Just a short post...

The main purpose of making this post was to hopefully help others with a issue I was having with my new Sansa Clip...this little mp3 player is great, but recently the FM radio stopped working, I could couldn't get any stations. I thought I was going to have to send it back to Amazon. I wasn't having any luck find any info on google, but, then I stumbled upon the solution. When you're in FM mode, the pause/play button acts as a mute :) Pressed in, problem solved! Hopefully this post will help someone.

Chicken Noodle Soup for the Cold

Holy Cow! Today was a cold day! The temperature pretty much hung out around -5 degrees today...Heather and I ran some errands and it almost hurt to get out of the car. Heather got a new cell phone today, she got one of the LG Cholates. Seems like a pretty decent phone, guess we'll see.

We also did some grocery shopping in preperation for the Packer game tomorrow. We're going over to some friends' house and I'm making some chili. We also picked up ingredients to make Chicken Noodle Soup...wow, it turned out amazing...Here's what you need:

5 Cans Chicken Broth
1 Can Vegetable Broth
1 lb Chicken Breast
1 cup Sliced Carrots
1 cup Diced Celery
1 tsp Dried Basil
1/2 tsp Pepper
1/2 tsp Dried Oregano
1 diced small white onion
2 tbsp butter
1/2 package egg noodles

Here's the quick directions:

1) Saute veggies in butter for 5 mins
2) Add broth and herbs and bring to boil
3) Add Chicken Breast and boil for 15 mins
4) Remove Chicken Breast and dice
5) Add Chicken back to broth with noodles
6) continue boiling for 8 mins...
5) serve!

That's about it...great stuff.

Well, I'm off to watch "The Kingdom".

Tomcat missing application web.xml???? Are you kidding me?!?!

So, one of the things I wanted to start talking about on my blog is solutions to problems that I have troubleshooted and resolved. It always takes forever to find solutions to problems and most people don't post the solution that they discover. Not I, for now on, any problems I solve are going to be discussed here for others to find.

Well this evening I've been fighting problems with our application. We are using CPanel to control our web server and the various pieces of functionality related to it. Last night, CPanel decides to automagically update many components on our server, as a result, our website completely stops working. Which, given the fact that we have no traffic, doesn't really concern me. What is concerning, is the fact that I have to spend time debugging the problem.

Hopefully, someone will find this blog and be able to use this information to save them time. The problem was, I was receiving the following error when starting Tomcat:

Missing application web.xml, using defaults only StandardEngine ...

According to the error, tomcat can't find the web.xml for the application...but it's there in all it's glory!

Some digging reveals that CPanel updated the server.xml file and has changed the application context, one of the entries is the docBase for the application context. We had previously set this to point to our applications directory (ie /apps/appname). I updated the docBase and whola! So, if you run into this problem, check your appBase in your server.xml file for the application you are having issues with...

Well, that's it for today...I have racquetball tomorrow morning, so I need to hit the sack half-way early...

A new start???

Ok this blog stuff is really tough...as far as trying to keep up with things. There are a number of interests that I have, that I often wish I could document somewhere. My blog is the perfect spot for that stuff, but for whatever reason, I find it hard to keep up.

Well, I guess I'll give it a try again. As I've given up the idea of being a millionaire at poker, given the laws that got past last year, I won't be talking about that too much. This time, I'll be talking about photography, technology, and travel...not necessarily in that order of priority.

This past weekend, Heather and I went to Eau Claire, WI for a surpise birthday party, her mother turned the big FIVE-O...we had a great time, including some good food and a couple beers.

On Sunday, I got up and went to Wabasha, MN, which is about 1 hour from Eau Claire. This place is known for having a lot of Bald Eagles. The goal of the Wabasha trip was to get some photos, in my next post, I'll let you know how that went.

Another relaxing day...

Well, today was another relaxing day...I played some racquetball this morning, it was some great exercise, and I actually managed to win. It's been so long since I've played, my game has really fallen apart. The last few leagues I played were A3 leagues, and I was very competitive, however, since it had been so long, I decided to drop down to B1 for this session. Unfortunately, I'm getting my butt handed to me. Oh well, I've only played twice, so I'm sure I'll pick it back up after a few more matches.

After racquetball, I went to Woodman's grocery store and picked up some food for lunch and dinner. I got some brats, which were really tasty. Then for dinner, I had some battered fish planks, which actually weren't too shabby either.

I did play some cards today as well...I continued my play on the $50NL tables. I played about 689 hands and won $118.81, so it was a very productive day, although I played considerably less hands than yesterday. I'm running very hot right now, I can only hope that the streak continues. After 2 days of playing, I've played 2,326 hands and am up $261.04, that's 11.2 PTBB/100, which is a pretty aggressive rate that I'm not sure I can maintain...I guess we'll see.

I'm outta here....see ya.

Are you stunned??? 2 Days in a row!

Well, this is my second day in a row of posting...

It's Friday night and I've just wrapped up my first night of NL50. Tonight was a great night for cards, and it definitely helps when you have a winning night after just moving up a level.

Tonight was definitely a night of ups and downs. Tonight I managed to lose my biggest hand ever...$66 That sure seems like a lot to lose in one hand, seeing as I'm just getting started, but it's really nothing compared to what other people play. However, to offset that, I won the biggest hand ever :) $71 Funny thing is, I won that against the guy who had busted me earlier, so it was kind of sweet revenge.

After that, I just went on a spree of winnings, I busted prolly 4-5 people over the next hour or so...it was an exciting streak that's for sure.

Overall, I think I played pretty decent, I had a couple hands that I could have played a bit better, but a good start at NL50.

As I had mentioned my ups and downs, here's the graph of tonights play:

1st Night of NL50 (1,637 hands + $142.23)

Until next time...

Blogging is so hard to keep up with...

Wow, I never realized it would be such a chore to keep my blog up to date, I've not made a post in over a month. By this time, it's pretty much known that I won't ever be a famous blogger...updates every month or so...yeah, don't think so.

I'm sitting at work, eating some lunch...oh yeah, something that has probably changed since my last posting...I've accepted a new job. I'm now working at shopbop.com You can check our site out at shopbop.com. Definitely a site most of you women will love. My title is Technical Project Manager, my biggest responsibility right now is my Data Warehouse project, which will be a long project, overall, taking around 1.5 years to develop. We're only 3 weeks into it :) So back to my lunch, I'm having leftover veggie chili that Heather makes, it's awesome, add a little habanero Tobasco and it makes it perfect!

This morning was a bummer, my car battery was dead. Seems that the cosmetic light on the visor has a problem turning off, what do you know...the visor is broke, which must be a common problem, since Heather's visor broke as well...this little problem causes the cosmetic light to not always turn off...which resulted in a dead battery for me this morning.

What else...well, this weekend, Heather is going to Octoberfest up in La Crosse with a bunch of her girlfriends, so I get to bach-it. My plan for tonight is to have a quick dinner and then dig into some cards. In August, I switched from Limit Hold'em to No-Limit Hold'em, I feel like I've been pretty successful at it with the help of my nephew Aaron.

Here's some stats:

Since August 15, 2006:

Hands: 11,593
Dollars won: $307.31
PTBB/100: 5.15 (a very attainable win-rate)
VPIP: 18.69%
PFR: 6.26%

Graph Since 8/14/2006 (click for bigger img)

Overall, I feel it was a pretty successful venture into NL Hold'em. So, starting tonight, I'm moving to the next level, which is $50 No-Limit Hold'Em. The players should be similar in skill level, the only difference will be the amount of the wagers, which will essentially be double.

Given my same winrate of at $25NL, I should be able to make a little more money, in fact, about twice as much.

So here are my goals for the month of October:

1) Play 8,000 Hands of NL50
2) Achieve a winrate of 5 PTBB/100
3) Net Dollar Won of $400

We'll see how it goes, I'll keep you posted...(right..we'll actually see about that).
